Roy Hodgson resigns as England's head coach after Iceland defeat

Roy Hodgson has resigned as English team head coach after Euro last-16 loss to Iceland.
His team lost 1-2 to Iceland at Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice following two first half goals comeback that cancelled Wayne Rooney’s 4th minute penalty strike.
Wayne Rooney could be seen walking on the pitch to console Gary Cahill, Joe Hart, Dele Alli and others after their elimination from the European completion.
The Icelandic team will face tournament host France in next round.
Hodgson who won 33 of his 56 games in charge of the Three Lions said: ‘I’m sorry it will have to end this way but these things happen, I hope you will still be able to see an England team in a final of a major tournament soon.
‘Now is the time for someone else to oversee the progress of a hungry and extremely talented group of players. They have done fantastically, and done everything asked of them.’
The 68-year-old has managed Inter Milan, Liverpool, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, West Bromwich Albion, Switzerland’s and Finland’s national teams in the past.
