Carrie Coon Plays Lead Female Role In Fargo Season 3

Carrie Coon has landed the female lead in Fargo season 3. Set to enter production before the year’s end before a premiere in 2017, Coon will assume the role of Gloria Burgle, a “practical woman who grabs the fire extinguisher when the bacon catches fire and everyone else panics. Gloria is the chief of the Eden Valley police, and a newly divorced mother who is struggling to understand this new world around her where people connect more intimately with their phones than the people right in front of them.”

Joining Ewan McGregor in FX’s ensemble drama, one loosely based on Joel and Ethan Coen’s 1996 crime flick, Fargo season 3 is said to take place closer to the present day that its forebear, largely revolving around McGregor’s twin brothers, Emmit and Ray Stussy.

On paper, Carrie Coon and Ewan McGregor certainly make for a brilliant duo to anchor the show’s third season, and the fact that the latter is playing two wildly different personas – the first, a self-assured and accomplished real estate magnate; the second, is a down-on-his-luck nihilist who blames his successful sibling for his sorry state of affairs – is very exciting indeed.
