Okocha Says Allardyce Will Succeed With England

Jay-Jay Okocha has backed former manager Sam Allardyce to make a success of the England job. Okocha played under Allardyce at Bolton during a four-year spell and he is convinced the Sunderland boss will impress at international level if he is confirmed as Roy Hodgson's replacement.

Okocha said “He is a very ambitious manager who wants to succeed at any club he has been and he knows how to get the best out of players. He is very specific in his details, there is nowhere for you to hide. He will show you everything in terms of stats and I think he prepares his players in the best possible way. Some people might criticise him for being a bit direct but you also have to think of the players he has got to work with. It is all about knowing the quality he has got to try and bring the best out of them. I never thought I would be able to play for him because he is too direct but he managed to find a way to accommodate me. The great thing about it is it his dream job and he has the desire to succeed, so I think he will definitely do well.”
