Rafael Nadal Confident Of Rio Olympics Chances

Rafael Nadal is confident of being fit enough to compete at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The 14-time grand slam winner has not played since pulling out of the French Open in May because of a wrist injury.

Nadal has also withdrawn from next week's Toronto Masters, joining Roger Federer and Andy Murray in missing the event, but is confident of winning his fitness battle for the singles and mixed doubles in the Olympics. The Spaniard, who won the gold medal at the 2008 Games in Beijing, began training last week.

He said: “I hope I can move a little further forward each day and reach Rio well prepared. The timing is good, there are two and a half weeks before the tournament.”
