#AHTopProducers: Top 5 Music Producers In Nigeria

From the streets to the club down to shows and carnivals we all hail the likes of Wizkid, Davido Olamide, Reminisce for the banging songs they have given us but most of us have failed or don't even recognized the brains behind those hit song.

There is no doubt that without a producer there can’t be a song and just in case you don't know, what makes a song wack or great is the production, so YES, a producer deserves much credit as the artiste that voices the song.

With that being said, today on Absolute Hearts we are going to be taking a look at the top 10 music producers in Nigeria and the criteria’s are as follows:

1.      Number of album produced under the review year

2.      At least 4 hit and club banging songs under the review year

3.      The year under review is 2015 till May 2016

Note: A producer who hasn’t produce an album can still make the cut as much as he has at least five major hit songs

1.      Pheelz Mr Producer:  

To be candid I don't know where to begin with Pheelz because there is hardly a hit song in the country that he doesn’t have is signature on. Yes many would say he doesn’t work with many artiste aside YBNL artistes but hey it's not about whom you work with it's about how the work sounds and just in case you don't know, Pheelz works with other artistes who have not even made it to the limelight.

Pheelz produce most of the songs on Olamide’s Eyan Mayweather album (2015) which we all know was a hit album and he also produced most of the songs on Lil Kesh album (2016) which was a great body of work too, so in terms of hit songs Pheelz sits on top of the food chain.

Olamide was regarded has the most hardworking artiste for the year 2015 and he was probably the artiste with the most number of hit songs so it is only logical that Pheelz who is his producer claim the number one spot

2.      Young John The Wicked Producer:

Another producer under YBNL label, Young John came into the limelight in 2014 working with label boss Olamide as he was majorly responsible for the production of the Street OT album and from that moment onward Young John became a force to reckon with.

In 2015 he was part of the producers that worked on the hit joint album 2Kings by Olamide X Phyno as he produced the following songs Ladi, Koba Koba (co produced by Pheelz), Confam Ni. still in 2015 Young John gave us hit songs like Efejoku Ni, Gbese, Is It Because Love ( co produced by Pheelz) which all made it to Lil Kesh's Yagi album which came out in 2016. Other hit songs Young John has produced includes Jaywon Gbawo (2015), Lil Kesh Ibile (co produced by Pheelz 2016) Kiss Daniel Mama (which is the biggest song on the album released in 2016) Olamide's Bobo (2015) Sexy Steel;s Sisi (2015) Mz Kiss' Stoopid (2015)

3.      Sess Problem Kid:

Many of you might be wondering who this is but if you are fan of Falz then this is the dude behind almost of his hit songs. From Ello Bae to Celebrity Girlfriend to Karashika all these were part of the hit song Sess produced for Falz. He had a major production credit on Falz sophomore album Stories That Touch which was released 2016 and still in 2016 he produced these hit songs Bahd Baddo Baddest and Ayakata among others.

4.      Masterkraft:

This is one producer that despite all he has done, he hasn’t  been given much credit, yes he is highly respected because he has been in the industry for a long time but has he gotten the credit that he deserves? I would say not really.

From song like Nawo E soke (ft Wizkid) First Come First Serve, Oobi, Talosobe etc Masterkraft has been the main man behind CDQ's hit songs and he is also responsible for Banky W's Made For You and not to forget his own personal songs like Indomine (original and remix) Finally which had both Flavour and Sarkodie and talking about Flavour, most of his hit song for 2015 were done by Masterkraft. Other songs include Fada Fada (Phyno), Ego (Yemi Alade) Kosowo (Tunde Ednut).

5.      Shizzi

This is another producer who is solely attached to one artiste and that is Davido, that is not to say he hasn’t worked with other artiste but majorly he is the man behind most of Davido’s hit song which include Owo ni koko, The Sound, Fans Mi, Izzue (ft Dammy Krane) Chilling (ft Runtown X Akon). Aside Davido, Shizzi has also worked with the likes of Mc Galaxy on the song Komolop Cholop, Olamide on Who You Epp? a song that might end up being the hottest single of the year, Niyola with Go On. This makes Shizzi credible for the number 5 spot.
