Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently shed some light on the subject when speaking to Entertainment Weekly, and here’s what he had to say: “Obviously we did that on purpose. We love working with Teddy Sears. He’s such an amazing actor and amazing person, and was so much a part of the success of this show last season. There aren’t any immediate plans for that, but you can’t keep a good Black Flash down, so I’m sure we’ll be seeing him in the future.”
It’s certainly not uncommon for an actor to return when producers and fans become attached to them, even when their character has seemingly “died.” An example from this very show would be Tom Cavanagh returning as Earth 2’s Harrison Wells after his original character – Eobard Thawne/The Reverse Flash – met his end during the first season’s finale.
The Flash returns for its third season on Tuesday, October 4 on The CW.
