Gotham Season 3 Premiere

 

With less than three weeks to go until Gotham begins its third season, vital details continue to pour in. The latest comes in the form of the premiere episode’s synopsis that also divulges its foreboding title: “Mad City: Better to Reign in Hell…”

Aside from sharing that name with a great song by Cradle of Filth, fans of classic literature will recognize it from John Milton’s Paradise Lost, with the full quote being, “Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven.” Seeing as how villains will continue to run roughshod over the city until a certain Caped Crusader lays claim to the night, that title seems consistent with recent news regarding the upcoming season’s tone.
Something interesting to note in the synopsis is the absence of Maggie Geha as the aged up Poison Ivy. Clare Foley is the only one listed to be playing that character, so perhaps her life changing event doesn’t happen for another episode or two.

Anyway, here’s the description in full: “Gordon works in a monster-ridden Gotham as a bounty hunter and seeks to find answers about the Indian Hill escapees, and why their powers appear to be killing them. Meanwhile, Bruce’s doppelganger roams the streets, and Barbara and Tabitha open a new nightclub called The Sirens in the all-new “Mad City: Better to Reign in Hell…” season premiere episode of GOTHAM.”
