Update On The Movie “The Only Living Boy In New York”

Marc Webb will soon be circling back to the Big Apple for The Only Living Boy in New York. The long-in-development drama is a decidedly more adult-oriented affair, featuring Green Room‘s Callum Turner as a recent college graduate who discovers that his father (Jeff Bridges) has been indulging in an affair with a woman (Kate Beckinsale) who he himself goes on to become romantically involved with. Talk about an awkward family reunion. Dope and The Flash‘s Kiersey Clemons is also attached.

Penned by Allan Loeb, The Only Living Boy in New York isn’t the only film to have fallen onto Webb’s back-burner, who has also lined up Gifted with Jenny Slate and Chris Evans. In terms of the former, Amazon Studios has pledged financial support to the familial drama with plans in place for the cameras to start rolling next month in NYC. A 2017 release date is looking likely, but we’ll keep you posted if and when that becomes a sure thing.

Beckinsale is coming off a fine performance in period drama Love & Friendship and will soon become embroiled in the war between the Lycans and Vamps once more when Anna Foerster’s franchise revival Underworld: Blood Wars claws its way into theaters on January 6, 2017.
