A big part of that stems from the fact that both Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist starred in Glee together, so they have plenty of experience when it comes to showing off their vocal talents. In a recent interview, executive producer Greg Berlanti spoke about how things are coming along with the Supergirl and The Flash musical crossover. Interestingly, he confirms that the episode will include a couple of original songs, something which is sure to be a lot of fun as the shows no doubt find some inventive new ways to pay homage to the source material:
He said “Next week we’ll have to start talking about clearing music. I have a few ideas for tone and style in my head but we’re just starting to talk about what that can be. I do want to try and get an original piece of music written. As we make a deal on that we’ll probably make some announcements on the original songs…There are some writers I’m incredibly excited to work with.”
Supergirl being on the same network as Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow obviously opens the door to lots of crossovers in the future, and while a big four night event is currently in the works, this musical episode promises to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen from these characters in the past.
