Blade Runner Sequel Gets Title

Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. have announced that their sequel to Blade Runner, Ridley Scott’s seminal sci-fi film, will be titled Blade Runner 2049. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, hot off his new film Arrival, the movie will see Harrison Ford reprise his role alongside a stacked cast that boasts Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and more.

Unfortunately, the studio opted not to reveal any plot details along with the title and given the vast amount of secrecy surrounding the film, we probably won’t get anything concrete for a little while. Still, it’s good to finally have an official title and with the sequel now in active production we’re bound to start hearing more about it in the months to come.

Gosling recently gushed about the long-in-development follow-up while chatting with SciFiNow, stating the following: “As an actor, to be part of a project like this is unbelievable. It’s unreal, but they are being very secret about the project. They put a chip in my neck. If I say too much, my head will explode! What can I tell you about it? I can say that Harrison Ford will be in the film, and it’s an extension of the story. It’s not a remake; it’s a sequel.”

Blade Runner 2049 is set for release on October 6th, 2017.
