Marvel’s 'Cloak And Dagger' Has Been Postponed To 2018

Marvel has found great success on Netflix, but their fortunes have been a little mixed on ABC. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s ratings have plummeted since the series premiere, Agent Carter was cancelled after just two seasons, and the network pulled the plug on Mockingbird spinoff Marvel’s Most Wanted before the pilot even made it to air.

According to a new report Cloak and Dagger has been pushed back to winter 2018. On the plus side, it does have a showrunner in the form of Joe Pokaski, though he’s writing the pilot’s script from scratch so it obviously needs a bit of work.

Cloak and Dagger was ordered to series back in April, and is set to focus on Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, teenagers from different backgrounds who grapple with newly acquired superpowers – Tandy can emit daggers of light, while Tyrone can engulf others in darkness – even as they fall in love. If it sounds a little like a YA novel, that’s because it’s aimed at exactly that audience.

You can’t blame Marvel for looking to enter that market, especially as they have Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC for a mainstream audience and their more grown up shows on Netflix. It’s clearly going to be quite a while before we get any more significant updates on Cloak and Dagger, but it seems to be going well, albeit slowly, so far.
