Kano Pillars picked their first win in the Gold
Cup pre- season tournament in Ijebu Ode, edging MFM FC 4-2 in a thrilling encounter on Sunday. Adamu Mohammed gave the Sai Masu Gida the lead in the 26th
minute, while Kamal Alhassan doubled
the lead five minutes later.
Ausine Ogunye pulled a goal back for MFM from the
spot in the 52nd minute but Mubarak Said
got the third for Pillars eight minutes later. Ogunye reduced the deficit in
the 62nd minute, with Fahad Usman
scoring for Pillars again late in the game.
The
disciplinary committee of the Gold Cup pre- season tournament has awarded three
points to Remo Stars after their Group
B fixture against Enyimba was
abandoned on Sunday. Enyimba players left the field in the closing stages of
the game in protest of a penalty awarded to Remo Stars. The scoreline at the period
when Enyimba abandoned the game was 2-2.
The
committee stated that the rules make it an offence for a club to refuse
continuation of play during a match. Remo Stars with the decision now have four
points same as Lobi Stars after
playing a 1-1 draw in their first game against Crown FCEnyimba have
one point with a defeat and one draw from two matches. The
People's Elephant are still searching for their first win after they were
held to a barren draw by Lobi Stars in their opening game.
