Check Out This Trailer For The Fate Of The Furious

The tire marks may still be fresh from Friday’s electrifying sizzle reel, but today, Universal has unleashed the first official teaser trailer for The Fate of the Furious. Previously titled Fast 8, the F. Gary Gray-directed sequel promises a wild ride for our band of petrolheads, who can be seen screeching through the streets of Cuba in the snippet above. In line with early rumors, their story is set to culminate in New York City, when the Big Apple will be playing host to a showdown between the Toretto crew and Cipher, the mystery big bad played here by Charlize Theron.

Leaning on the whole ‘one last job’ trope it was only a matter of time before Dominic Toretto et. al were yanked out of retirement, and with plans in place for two further sequels in 2019 and 2021, fans of the unabashed franchise have plenty to look forward to in the future.

As this first trailer teases, we’re in for another explosive ride, as the film looks to be bigger than its predecessor in just about every single way – which is no small feat. Between a handful of gravity defying stunts, some absolutely enormous set pieces and a few new toys to play around with – like a freaking submarine! – it seems like Gray has everything he needs to turn the eighth outing for the juggernaut series into one hell of a good time.

Joining Vin Diesel and Theron for The Fate of the Furious are Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson, while newcomers Kurt Russell and Scott Eastwood are also on board. The Fate of the Furious is expected to screech into theatres worldwide on April 14, 2017.
