Arik Airlines, which was taken over by the AMCON few days ago, has suspended flights to London and Johannesburg. The spokesman of AMCON, Jude Nwauzor made the announcement in Lagos on Tuesday.
Arik Air was taken over by AMCON because of the airline's inability to pay it's debt.
He said the decision to suspend flights to international destinations was made out of the need to find permanent solutions to the crisis rocking the airline. He also thanks all the creditors of the airline and begged their understanding throughout the airline's trying times.
It will also
present Arik with excellent opportunity to engage and discuss with creditors
who have become restive since the intervention and have also understandably
exhausted their patience due to non-payment of accumulated debt and
non-performance on services and contracts.” he said
“To our
international creditors, Arik is most grateful for your patience and
understanding.
“We reassure them
that all pending issues with the airline will be duly addressed as a matter of
priority as we plan to engage them in this regard,” he added.
