England will face Switzerland in a friendly in June ahead of this summer’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 finals. The Lionesses will take on the Swiss at the Tissot Arena in Biel on Saturday 10 June.
The last time the two sides met was at the 2012 Cyprus Cup, when Fara Williams netted the only goal of the game on her 100th cap and the Arsenal midfielder believes that this type of high-level friendly is exactly what the squad needs.
She said “This game will be really good preparation for us ahead of the Euros. Switzerland are an excellent team and it's important that we are testing ourselves against the best sides before the tournament. We learnt a lot at the She Believes Cup last month. We know we are capable of beating the best but also what areas we've got to work on if we want to be successful this summer. The games we have lined up before the Euros will allow us to build on this and make sure we're in the best possible position in July.”
