Gernot Rohr’s charges put up a below-par showing in Tuesday’s 2-0 friendly defeat against Serbia and also struggled in the 1-0 win against Poland last week. The performance especially against the Serbs has cast doubts on how far the team can go in Russia with two-time world champions, Argentina, Croatia and Iceland their group stage opponents.
Chukwu however believes there is no need to worry yet and stated that the team have what it takes to do well at the Mundial.
He said ”I don’t think there is need to press the panic botton yet. Friendly matches are meant to prepare the team and work on the weaknesses, It is good we are noticing some of these things now as there is still enough chance to work on them. There is enough quality in the team to do well at the World Cup and I believe we’ll get it right.”
