D’Banj debuts new single with Cassper Nyovest on today’s episode of Absolute Hearts Music Review

Yes it’s time for another episode of Absolute Hearts Music Review, the best music review from the continent of Africa. Let’s start off by tendering our sincere apologies for going off the radar for a while, it was due to some unfortunate circumstance and we also like to thank you for still staying with us.
As always, we bring you the best of music across the continent of Africa and we get to criticize it here without any form of bias of hatred, we say it the way it is. So without any further ado here are the songs we have for this week;

1.      D’Banj ft. Cassper Nyovest - Something for Something: For some weeks now D’Bbanj has been teasing us with this song featuring South African rapper, Cassper Nyovest, titled Something for Something and I have to say it was worth the wait. I use the phrase “worth the wait” because it was supposed drop some weeks back but D’Banj postponed it to mourn the legendary South African rapper who passed away, HHP and the following week he dropped Shake It (ft. Tiwa Savage) which I have to say is nowhere near this song. The last time I heard D’Bbanj sound this good and captivating has was when he dropped Emergency, I have to be honest this song also has the same element with that, and he South African vibes that Cassper brought into just took the songs to another level. D’Bbanj started the year with a banger (Issa Banger) and he ends the year with another banger with Something for Something, the rating will be 8/10.

2.      Runtown - Oh Oh Oh (Lucie): Runtown has made sure that all the court case won’t affect his music as he has continued to drop some decent songs. His last single which isn’t up to two weeks old, No Permission (ft. Nasty C) is still doing well but the Soundgod front runner wants to end the year on a high as he drops yet again another decent song titled Oh Oh Oh (Lucie). As produced by Del B this is another Runtown classic in its usual element and vibes and the rating will be 7/10.

3.      Mr. P ft. Simi - Zombie: Peter of Psqaure who now goes by the name Mr. P is steadily doing everything he can to make it as a solo artiste and I have to say he hasn’t done badly though not as decent as his twin brother Paul (Rudeboy). Mr. P's new single is titled Zombie and he features Simi on this one, in general this isn’t a bad song as Mr. P made use of the catchy chorus tactics on this one but much credit has to go to Simi who almost stole the shine of the song with her verse and yes that African adlib that was added to the chorus wasn’t bad at all. Like I said in general this is a good song and the rating will be 7/10.

4.      KLY ft. Ycee - Local: This is a track off the release of his new album, we present to you. Local and as expected KLY didn’t disappoint at all. On this love song, he features Nigerian rapper Ycee and he also brought his sauce and together they gave us a 8/10. Though I have to say this isn’t the kind of song you will like immediately but it is a song that once it hits you, you won’t be able to have enough of it.

5.      Illbliss ft. Dice Ailes - Is It Your Money: The Oga Boss himself is back with another rap song titled Is It Your Money and on this on this features Dice Ailes. I have to be honest this isn’t one of Illbliss' best effort but then again this is not a bad song, his flows were simple, not much punchlines or wordplay and Dice Ailes didn’t also start the chorus well, though he was able to get into it later on. What really stood out as to be the production from Egarboi, he did a decent job which is why the song is able to have a 6/10 rating.

6.      Studio Magic ft. Ajebutter22 - Standard Guy: One of the most extraordinary producers in the industry Studio Magic drops a superb produced song titled Standard Guy and on this one he features Ajebutter22. These are the kinds of songs that make my critic difficult, listening to the production alone I say this song should get rating of 8 but considering the flows of Ajebutter22 which wasn’t really okay, the rating has to be 6/10. You have to be a core Ajebutter22 fan to like this song or just wipe off his voice on the song and just listen to the production alone.

7.      Burna Boy - On a Low: 2018 has been a very great year for Burna Boy and the Ye singer might not even be slowing down yet as he drops yet another hot song titled On A Low. If I honestly want to review this song, I might spend the whole day so I will keep it short by saying this is another hit song from Burna Boy, just when we thought Gbona was that final hit song for the year, he drops yet another banger and within hours of the release of this song, it has started to take over. This is another certified hit song from Burna Boy whom for me, as to be the artiste of the year, the rating will be 9/10.

8.      Wizkid ft. Slimcase - Gucci Snake: Gucci Snake from Wizkid ft. Slimcase is the most anticipated song of the year, after teasing and teasing, we finally have their official version of the song and I have to say the song did not in any way meet our expectation. Please don’t get me wrong, this is not a total bad song but considering how Slimcase has killed every feature he has been this year, many of us were so eager to hear what a Wizkid and Slimcase collaboration will sound like but to our surprise after the short intro Slimcase disappeared from the song and it was all Wizkid all through till the very end, the same intro was used as the outro. No offense this wasn’t what we expected and the rating will be 5/10.

9.       Zlatan Ibile ft. Davido - Osanle; Another artiste that has had a decent 2018 has to be Zlatan Ibile and his latest effort with Davido is just a sign to show how much work he has put in all year round. Osanle is a total banger from the Zanku dance creator, the chorus by Davido just took the song to another level, and the rating will be 8/10.

10.  Tiwa Savage - One: I don’t know if I can ever get use to Tiwa Savage singing majorly in Yoruba, which is what she did on this song. Trust me, One, is a beautiful song Killertunes made sure of that with the brilliant job he did on the production but hearing Tiwa sing majorly in Yoruba just usually sound off in my ear. The rating will be 8/10.

11.  Seyi Shay ft. Runtown - Gimme Love: Seyi Shay is one of those artistes I have written off for 2018 as she hasn’t really had a decent year but with Gimme Love featuring Runtown and produced by Sarz, she just ended the year on a high. This is one collaboration I never really thought of but I have to be honest they  both killed it and without any doubt this is Seyi Shay best song for this year, this is Seyi Shay in her sexual element and vibes, the rating will be 8/10.
