REVIEW: Best Collaborative Songs From African Artistes In 2018

No doubt 2018 has been a year where some of the top artiste gave us some massive collaboration efforts, we can’t even begin to count the amount of features and collaborative effort that was done this year, but what we can do is to give you at least 10 songs we feel were the Best Collaborative Songs in 2018.
PS: These are just 10 of the best collaborative songs of 2018, this list is in no particular order or any form of ranking. These songs are songs that were released between January and November 2018.

1.      Chinko Ekun ft. Lil Kesh x Zlatan Ibile - Able God:  This song is still getting massive airplay all around the country and it is a song that will continue to trend till early next year at least. After teasing his fans on social media, on the 13th of September 2018, Chinko Ekun finally dropped what might be one of his best hit songs of his career and on the Rexxie produced track, he features Lil Kesh and Zlatan Ibile.

2.      Duncan Mighty ft. Wizkid - Fake Love: This song literally rejuvenated Duncan Mighty's career, after teasing fans with this unexpected collaboration, the Port Harcourt first son, Duncan Mighty dropped what happened to be his first song for the year on the 4th of May 2018 and he took many by surprise by featuring Wizkid. The impact of Wizkid on this song was so massive that many people probably till now think the song actually belongs to Wizkid but no, the Killertunes produced song is for Duncan Mighty and just like I said, this song changed Duncan Mighty's career as he instantly became one of the most sought after artiste in the country and his profile rose to the point of him getting an European tour.

3.      Olamide ft. Wizkid - Kana: It is safe to say that every time Olamide and Wizkid collaborate on a song together, it is definitely going to be a hit record. These will be the third collaborative effort from two of Nigerian biggest artistes, the first song was in 2008 when both artiste were still fresh in the game, they gave us Omo To Shan, then some time in 2015 Olamide featured Wizkid on Confirm Ni and on the 3rd of May 2018 they gave us Kana. As produced by Mut4y of Legendury beatz, everything about this song is just dope, the calmness, the mature sounds and of course the top notch production though I have to say I wasn’t impressed with the video at all but the song remains dope nevertheless.

4.      2Baba ft. Peruzzi - Amaka:  For an artiste that has spent over 2 decades in the industry to still be dropping hit songs in 2018 is definitely no small feat to achieve and this is one of the things that makes him an icon in the industry. 2Baba hit the industry hard on the 27th of June 2018 when he dropped this song titled Amaka featuring Peruzzi, the Sperochbeatz produced song instantly became a national anthem and as the video dropped the song just continue to spread like wildfire.

5.      DJ Spinall ft. Kizz Daniel - Baba: Kizz Daniel is one artiste that should also be nominated for artiste of the year because if we are being honest, every song he has put out this year, either featured on or personal single, every songs has been a hit song. At the beginning of the hear he made a declaration of him doing 40 collaborative songs though not sure we have heard  all of those 40 songs he collaborated on but Baba with DJ Spinall is one of the handful collaborative songs we have  heard and I have to say he killed it. Everything about this song is top notch, from the production (Produced by Killertunes) down to the melody and flow from Kizz Daniel, the song was released on the 27th of April 2018.

6.      Pablow ft. Mr. Real x Danny S - Bureau De Change: On the 13th of May 2018, fast raising 18-year-old singer Pablow who is signed to Madeline Entertainment dropped what will go down as one of the best street song of the year as a matter of fact this is one of the best Shaku Shaku sound I have heard this year, big credits to Shocker for the production of this song. This song is still very much rocking the streets and with December carnivals coming up trust me this song will definitely be one of the top song that will be played everywhere.

7.      Starboy - ft. Wizkid x Terri x Ceeza Milli x Spotless - Soco: Released on the 20th of February, Wizkid used this Shaku Shaku song to introduce the industry to his Starboy team and immediately the song dropped it was well received by fans all over the country. For the next two to three months, after the release of this song, Soco was still the biggest song across many platforms and till now Soco is still regarded as one of Wizkid's best song of the year as many people believe the song belong to Wizkid though considering the fact that Wizkid owns Starboy and the song says Starboy featuring Wizkid x Terri x Ceeza Milli x Spotless, I guess it understandable why people will say so but credits has to be given to the other Starboy act on this track, they all contributed their own quota to make sure the song became a national anthem.

8.      DJ Lambo Ft. Small Doctor X Mr. Real - Kunta Kunte: On the 13th of April Chocolate City artiste DJ Lambo released one of the best Shaku Shaku sounds you will hear this year. With a production coming from Ckay I have to say this version of the Shaku Shaku sound is probably one of the best I have heard, with Small Doctor and Mr Real doing proper justice to the song. This is one song that will trend more this December at different street carnivals and even clubs.

9.      Larry Gaaga ft. Wande Coal x Sarkodie - Wonderful: If I’m to describe this song with one word, I would say Wonderful, which happens to be the name of the song. Larry Gaaga is known for giving us beautiful collaborative songs but I have to this is the best of them so far. The two artiste he kept on this track went haywire on this, Wande Coal went all in with his dope lines supported with his unique vocals and melodious sound and for Sarkodie, the Ghanaian spat what will go down as one of his hottest bars on a feature, and DaPiano got it right on the production level, everything about this song qualifies it for best collaboration of the year nomination. It was released on the 29th of October 2018.

10.  Kizz Daniel ft. Davido - One Ticket: On the 2nd of November 2018, Kizz Daniel wanted us to have a feel of what his N.B.S (No Bad Song) album was going to sound like when he dropped this song and just listening to this song alone, we could tell there won’t be any bad song on the album. First let me start with the producer, Major Bangz, a monster producer that suddenly took a break and his now making sure his comeback will be epic. If there will be any song that will shoot him back to the spotlight, One Ticket just did that, the production on this song is silly mad (pardon my language). Truth is I can go on and on about everything that makes this song one of the best collaboration of the year but then I might end up writing a book, what I can do is to tell you that this song is worth whatever hype it got and will continue to get.

So there you have it folks, these are the 10 best collaborative songs of 2018, now I know, some of your favourite songs might be missing from this list so feel free to add yours in the comment section.
