Lagos ranked world’s 3rd worst city to live in

Lagos maintained its position at the lowest rungs of the Global Liveability index by ranking the third worst city to live in the world, according to the 2016 ranking by the Economist Intelligence Unit released Thursday.

Nic Pizzolatto is teaming up with Robert Downey Jr. to bring Perry Mason, a courtroom drama, to HBO. Pizzolatto is writing the treatment with RDJ set to star. The actor has been linked to the project for a while now, dating back to 2011 when it was being prepped as a film, but it’s now moved to television and he looks set to take the lead role, making this is first TV gig since Ally McBeal.

Mr. Robot Renewed For Third Season

 
Currently midway through its sophomore run on the air, Mr. Robot has been renewed for a third season at USA Network. Even if some critics have lamented season 2’s dips in quality, the renewal comes at an opportune time for Sam Esmail’s techno-thriller, which drew praise at the TCAs  after nabbing the coveted Outstanding New Program gong. Beyond that, Mr. Robot has also been nominated for a remarkable six Emmy awards, including Best Drama and Lead Actor for series star Rami Malek.

The project is a high profile endeavour for the streaming platform, which has made significant advances in the realm of original programming in recent years. Lauren Palmigiano is poised to make her directorial debut with White Girl Problems, a new dramedy that has set up shop at Lionsgate. Word has it that the studio has appointed Pitch Perfect duo Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman to produce the project, one that centers on “a young woman with a huge social media following who melts down one afternoon after spending about a quarter of a million dollars in Barney’s and ends up in shopping rehab, where she decides to write about her life — of excess and meaningless problems.”

Music star Burna Boy has revealed he is considering quitting music for “real”.

The singer didn’t reveal the reason he is bearing this thought. He wrote on social media on Wednesday, “Thinking of quitting music for real after d 1st of October maybe. 🏽️”

Olympic Update: Boxing Judges Sent Home

 
The International Boxing Association (AIBA) has dropped a number of judges and referees at the Rio Olympics after a review of decisions at the Games. The move comes a day after Ireland bantamweight Michael Conlan suffered a controversial defeat to Russian boxer Vladimir Nikitin.
After 239 Olympic bouts, the federation said less than a handful of the decisions were not at the level expected.

No Plans To End The 'Supernatural' Movie

 
Those of us who have traveled on “The Road So Far” and have continued to do so are well aware that Supernatural is still going strong – especially after witnessing the glory of Season 11’s final handful of episodes. With those creative juices still flowing, it’s no surprise to me that The CW sees no immediate end to the series. After all, it’s consistently drawn solid ratings, even more so when they moved the show from Friday nights.

34 year old American singer, Britney Spears is set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards later this month, for the first time in nine years, MTV announced on their website on Tuesday night.
The network announced the news through a video which showed a python slithering its way around Spears' dressing room — and obvious ode to her iconic 2001 performance and says she will turn heads at this year's performance.

Update On Gotham Season Three

 
As we head into the third season of the Fox television series Gotham, regular viewers will be aware that the city is in something of a state of flux. We have seen huge changes for the usually steadfast Jim Gordon, which places a great deal of tension within his relationship with Harvey Bullock. Ivy has also undergone a transformation, of sorts – as has Fish Mooney. Nathaniel Barnes is also on the cusp of a mighty character development. Perhaps most significantly for fans, Bruce Wayne  is investigating the shadowy and influential Court Of Owls, with the help of Alfred and Lucius Fox actions that will potentially have repercussions for quite some time.
