After The Accident

“Hello Yetunde, just listen to what I have to say I only have one minute, I am at Ikeja police station and I need a lawyer, when you come I would explain everything to you”

Immediately the DPO came into the station, he summoned officer Tanko who brought in the case file of those that were arrested and after the DPO read the case file he instructed him to allow each one of them call their lawyers.

The couples were the first to call their lawyer and after that it was Tunde, who didn't have a lawyer so instead he called the one person that he knew could help him get one, Yetunde. Yetunde was still at the office waiting tirelessly for Tunde to either come back or give her a call because it was really getting late and she was really getting worried. Every 5mins she would pick her phone and place a call to Tunde, all she got was still the same response she had been getting over an hour ago “the number you have dial is not reachable at the moment please try again later”.

Immediately she heard her phone rang she answered it without wasting time and when she heard that it was Tunde she had over a million question she wanted to ask all at the same time but Tunde didn't give her that chance as he said “Hello Yetunde, just listen to what I have to say I only have one minute, I am at Ikeja police station and I need a lawyer, when you come I would explain everything to you” and just like that the call was disconnected. Like someone who just saw with a ghost, her expression was very still as she was in shock, she didn't know what to say or how to react. Questions like “Station ke? How come? What did he do?” were all running through her mind all at once but when she finally found her voice the only thing she was saying was lawyer lawyer lawyer.

Since she didn't know any lawyer personally  because has never been in need of one, the only way to get one was to call her dad which she did

Yetunde: Hello daddy please I need your help, Tunde has been arrested and he needs a lawyer

Dad: Tunde arrested? For what? I mean what did he do?

Yetunde: Daddy I don't know, he just called me now and told me he is at Ikeja police station and he needs a lawyer said he would explain everything to me when I get there

Dad: Ikeja police station, that's strange, well don't worry I would send you the number of barrister Jide

Yetunde: Thank you daddy

After the call had ended her father thought for a while then he remember that he had the contact of the DPO of Ikeja police station on his phone, so he decided to give him a call to at least find out why Tunde was being arrested.

Mr. Johnson: Good evening, is that the DPO of Ikeja police station? 

DPO: Yes this is the DPO of Ikeja police station, who is this?

Mr. Johnson: Its Mr. Johnson, I hope you can still remember me though it's  been a while

DPO: Mr. Johnson....oh Mr. Johnson, yes I can still remember you

Mr. Johnson: Good, DPO I heard that one of my son is in your custody, I would to confirm how true and what was he arrested for

DPO: Your son? What is his name?

Mr. Johnson: Tunde. 

DPO: Tunde you say, hold on,  let me check this case file in front of me.....Tunde Tunde, is it Tunde Badmus?

Mr. Johnson: Yes DPO

DPO: Hmmmm....truly he is being  held in custody right now and I must say your son might be in big trouble here, he was brought in for killing somebody earlier today

Mr. Johnson: Did you say kill somebody, how come? 

DPO: I’m afraid I can’t give you the full details right now as we are still taking down his statement but I would advise you get a lawyer because he would definitely need one

Mr. Johnson: Ok DPO thank you so much, I would send one of my lawyers
