Lawn Tennis: Murray Clash With Federer

British No.1 Andy Murray is set to face Roger Federer in the Semi final stage at the ongoing Wimbledon as they both defeated their opponent to set what might be another Murray and Federer classic.
Federer who is gunning for his eight Wimbledon title defeated Simon Gilles 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 as he used his serve to his advantage. Federer had 11 aces and won 44 of the 55 points when he got his first serve in. Simon couldn’t match Federer 80 percent first serve success rate as he was only able to win 29 out of 48 points when he connected to Federer first serve. Federer who spoke with reporters after his game said “the road is long getting here but I still feel like I’m fresh and I have got energy left in the tank for hopefully a great match with Andy Murray and then we will see”.

As for Andy Murray he had little difficulty in disposing Vasek Pospisil as he was able to pull off a 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 win over the Canadian. Murray who frequently dominates with his hard serves wasn’t able to gather much point against Vasek as he only had four aces to his win. Murray had to regularly force the action on Pospisil serves as he had eight break point opportunities and was able to convert three of them which were good enough to win the match against Vasek who could only manage just one break point opportunity and failed to convert it.

The match between Murray and Federer is the biggest match in the men’s Semi-final as the other match that is schedule for Friday is between world No.1 Novak Djokovic and Richard Gasquet. Djokovic booked his ticket into the semi finals by beating Croatian Marin Cilic with a straightforward destruction of 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Cilic had no answer to Djokovic razor-sharp serve as he won 46 out 0f 58 points on his first serve which was just accompanied with four aces.

Richard Gaquest who was also able to defeat French Open Champion Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 is now faced with the task of preventing Djokovic the chance of defending his title if he can provide an upset in their semi final match on Friday.
