Athletics: Kenya Bans Two Athletics For Testing Positive To Illicit Drugs

Kenya on Friday banned two athletes Agatha Jeruto and Josephine Jepkorir who tested positive for drugs during checks carried out by officials from the International Association of Athletics Federations.
The rising 800m runner Agatha Jeruto and marathon runner Josephine Jepkorir, had tested positive for the anabolic steroid, Nandrosterone. The two Kenyan athletes have been suspended for taking illicit drugs, the country's athletics federation announced on Friday. The latest bans come less than two months after two Kenyans were thrown out of the world athletics
championships in Beijing for using banned substances. In the last three years, 33 other athletes from Kenya, famed for its middle and long-distance runners, have failed drugs tests, though only Rita Jeptoo, winner of the Boston and Chicago Marathons, could be classed as a top competitor.
