Bill Cosby's Arrives Freed On $1m Bail For ‘Drugging And Sexually Assaulting Woman’

Bill Cosby arrived home to his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania mansion smiling an hour after being arraigned on charges of sexual assault.  Cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his mansion in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania in January 2004.

The 78 years old comedian previously said under oath that he had consensual sexual contact with Constand, the former director of operations for Temple's women's basketball team.  The actor was released on $1million bail and was forced to hand over his passport as he appeared in court for just five minutes. He was also advised by Judge Elizabeth McHugh to avoid any contact with Constand as a preliminary hearing has been set for January 14. The charge against him is punishable by five to 10 years behind bars and a $25,000 fine.

From there he headed over to the Cheltenham Township Police Department where he was fingerprinted and had his mugshot taken by authorities. Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele announced the charge against Cosby at a press conference on Wednesday morning, saying; “The evidence is strong and sufficient to proceed at this point”. Bill Cosby's attorney Monique Pressley said on Wednesday that the charges came as no surprise and that the sexual assault charge is unjustified. She added that she fully expects that the actor will be exonerated of this charge. The criminal complaint alleges that on the night in question Cosby told Constand to take three blue pills that left her feeling weak and then led her to a sofa where the assault took place. When she woke up the next morning he gave her a muffin and sent her home.

Steele said at the press conference on Wednesday that Cosby made two failed sexual advances towards Constand before the incident now in question. Constand claims that the first time Cosby made an advance at her was after the two shared a meal at his house and were sitting on his sofa having a discussion. The next time he made an advance at her also occurred at his home in Elkins Park, and this time he unbuttoned her pants and began touching her, according to the affidavit of probable cause and once again Constand claims she left soon after. Between mid-January and mid-February 2004, the alleged sexual assault occurred.
