In a
statement Recording Academy CEO Neil
Portnow said: This lineup of talented artists is just the beginning of what
will, once again, prove to be music's biggest night. We look forward to
celebrating what's been a wonderful year in music, honoring the best of the
best and featuring never-before-seen performances”.
Adele
made her return to music last year to much fan fare as she released her third
full-length album 25 which has sold 8 million units since its November release
with the first
single, Hello, spending the first 10 weeks at number 1 on Billboard's
Hot 100 chart. Though she is performing, the chart-topper is not nominated
for any awards at the ceremony as she released music after the September 30,
2015 deadline for the award show. She will be eligible for the 2017 Grammy
Awards.
The Hello
hitmaker is not the only one set to take the stage at the star-studded event as
leading nominee Kendrick Lamar, The
Weeknd and Little Big Town will
also be performing.
In addition
to those performances there will be a special tribute to soul singer Lionel
Richie, the Recording Academy's 2016 MusiCares person of the year. Viewers will
also see a familiar face during the broadcast as rapper-turned-actor LL Cool J
will serve as host for the third time. He did so previously in 2013 and last
year. The 58th Annual Grammy Awards are set to air live from the Staples Center
in Los Angeles on February 15 at 8pm on CBS.
