Amir Khan and Floyd Mayweather came face-to-face in
Los Angeles on Saturday night with the Brit challenging the retired star to
return to the ring to face him.
Sitting at ringside to watch Danny Garcia win the WBC welterweight world title against Robert Guerrero, Khan and Mayweather exchanged words during the fifth round and Khan, who was repeatedly overlooked by the 38years old before he hung up his gloves, later claimed he had put the former undisputed pound-for-pound No 1 in his place saying “He was in front of me and he looked back and said, “Is this the guy [Garcia] that beat you? I said that things happen in life then he started going at it. We went back at each other, I said, “Answer me one question, why wouldn’t you fight me?” He didn’t know what to say. He started to shout quite loudly and start a commotion. I shut him up and put him in his place. I said if you want to fight, I’m here. Take away Manny Pacquiao and the last people you’ve fought, I’m a bigger name than them. It would make a lot of money. He started screaming but I didn’t understand half of what he was saying. He's living in his own hype. Once you retire, nobody remembers you and Mayweather is one person that not many will remember because he’s so arrogant. He loves the money and disrespects people”
The former two-time world champion plans to fight in March and must the decide between a fight with Kell Brook on June 4 at Wembley or to chase Garcia for a rematch after being named as his mandatory challenger.
