Jurgen Klopp Calls Sir Alex Ferguson The John Lennon Of Football

Jurgen Klopp has got the Kop rocking at times since his arrival at Anfield but his high praise for fierce rival Manchester United's legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson may hit a dud note.

Ahead of Klopp's first clash with United since taking over as Liverpool boss, the German hailed Ferguson in terms that could give him a Hard Day's Night with the club's more parochial fans in comparing him to one of Liverpool's favourite sons.  When asked for his opinion on Ferguson during his pre-match press conference on Friday, Klopp said: “Maybe he is the best ever. The John Lennon of football or something”.

After back-to-back draws in the FA Cup against Exeter and Arsenal in the Premier League, Liverpool fans are sure to let it be if Klopp's side can hit United while they're down and kick off their own surge up the Premier League charts from their disappointing ninth position. The admiration between Klopp and Ferguson is mutual though, as Ferguson was also impressed by the early stages of Klopp's tenure that he was worried about him. “I'm worried about him because one thing United don't want is Liverpool to be above us. That's for sure. He's a fantastic personality, he's got that great confidence

Ferguson engineered the end of Liverpool's two decades of dominance in English football when he took over United in 1986. The Anfield club have tried to reach those heights once again, yet have been unable to win the title in the past 25 years.
