Pacquiao's
promoter Bob Arum had appeared to
offer Khan hope when he said his charge could fight on after meeting Bradley but
the 37-year-old welterweight has refuted that suggestion. He said “I am
retiring from boxing to concentrate on my political career. My fight with
Timothy Bradley will be my last. I did not say anything like that. Nobody
interviewed me about that. I will retire after my April 9 fight”. Pacquiao and Bradley will meet for a
third time in Las Vegas on April 9 before the Filipino hangs up his gloves to
concentrate on a career in politics. His decision represents another blow for
Khan who repeatedly missed out on a clash with Floyd Mayweather before he retired unbeaten after 49 fights.
Pacquiao was robbed of victory by the judges in his
first meeting with Bradley in 2012 but returned to comfortably outpoint the
American two years later. Pacquiao has not fought since losing to long-time
rival Mayweather last May. He has since had surgery on a torn rotator cuff
while Mayweather bowed out with victory over Andre Berto last September.
