Pilot Fakes An In-Air Emergency Before Asking His Girlfriend To Marry Him

A pilot has revealed that he staged an in-air emergency during a private flight with his girlfriend, moments before asking for her hand in marriage.

Mr Ogot, uploaded the footage of the stunt on YouTube, which captures the moment he declared the flight controls had failed on their way back from California's Catalina Island, and asked his girlfriend to read out a series of falsified emergency instructions. The video starts with a montage of the couple on a romantic trip to Catalina Island, situated off the coast of California before showing the footage of Mr Ogot piloting a small plane home, with his unsuspecting girlfriend seated next to him, and no other passengers and it has been viewed more than 44,000 times.

His girlfriend remained extremely calm as the drama unfolds, before collapsing into tears and laughter when he drops the act and hands her an engagement ring. Speaking to her via their headphones, he said “Don't worry, stay calm, I've done this before. The flight controls are not responding, see?” There's an emergency procedure for this. Let me get you the list. You're going to have to read it for me OK?” Mr Ogot then passes her a sheet of paper and she dutifully reads out fabricated instructions concerning the plane's controls.

Mr Ogot reaches to his side and retrieves a second sheet of paper, telling her to read the points one by one. Still none the wiser to her boyfriend's plot, the woman confronts the paper and then dissolves into tears as she reads the words aloud.

Do you love the pilot? she asks, laughing and responding, yes. “Do you want to spend the rest of your life with him, she continues, again replying yes. At this point Mr Ogot seizes his opportunity to ask the big question, presenting his girlfriend with a ring encased in a gold box designed to look like a Golden Snitch Quidditch ball from Harry Potter, and stating: “Will you be my co-pilot for life? Fortunately for him, she gladly accepts, and despite her seemingly calm performance, admits: You scared me.

The newly engaged pilot then lands the plane safely, and the couple are greeted by a gaggle of friends with balloons and flowers.

Here is the video just in case you also want to try it
