Absolute Hearts Personality Of The Month | Gaga Umukoro [@gagaumukoro]

Miss Oghenevwogaga Sophia Umukoro also known as Gaga and sis G is a woman of God, a youth worker and a teacher who enjoys working with youths and community development. Her vision is to see youth yield their maximum potentials, be all God has designed them to be and take up leadership positions where they can make divine inspired decisions to transform their community and the world at large. She enjoys organising youth events for leadership and potential development. She also enjoys teaching and speaking to youths, gearing them to not settle for less than they are but to be the best version of themselves.
She is the Founder of Yield Leadership Initiative- a multidimensional creative platform aimed at giving God’s love by developing the potentials of young people. YLI as she fondly calls it was formerly named Love Academy but in January 2016,  it was rebranded because other projects were starting under it. YLI is a faith based NGO whose vision was given by God. YIELD means Youth Initiative for Empowerment, Leadership and potential Development. With YLI she aims to reach out to youths in Africa and around the world ensuring they see themselves through the eyes of their Creator so that they can yield their maximum fruitfulness.
She is a holder of BEng. In Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Covenant University, Ota; she is also a holder of distinction in Sustainable Energy Systems master’s programme from Queen Mary University of London which she attained in 2012 and 2013 respectively. She currently works as a Project Coordinator on renewable energy. In addition to youth work, she wants to contribute her quota to the Nigeria’s power sector by providing affordable, reliable and sustainable electricity to consumers as well as designing low cost energy efficient buildings. She believes that Nigeria is blessed and full of untapped great minds and resources and has the potential to be a developed nation. One of the sectors that needs to be improved to ensure this is the power sector.
Her accomplishments in UK in terms of youth work includes: coordinator of the Leaders in Training youth group, Leader in charge of youths in her local church in Dagenham and GCSE Maths tutor of TeamUp (a charity aimed at maximizing the academic potential of students) for underachievers. She was awarded by the Student Union of her University for her volunteering contribution and dedication of time to maximize the academic potentials of students through TeamUp.
Her accomplishments in Nigeria in terms of youth work includes: Project team lead and Production manager of the Editorial and Publicity CDS group NYSC Lagos state. She uses this platform to plan and coordinate community development projects, write articles on youth leadership and development and also goes on air as an on air personality for the Eko Corpers Diary on EKO FM and Unilag FM. She also serves as a children’s teacher at Good News Baptist Church, a church she grew up in.
She is an international speaker and enjoys speaking on youth development and leadership. She has been invited to speak to youths on various platforms such as the 2015 Women of Grace conference in UK, where she spoke on the Young Women Making Influence panel, the Girls Auxiliary of Good News Baptist Church, Leaders In Training Events and 2015 Love Academy Conference in Nigeria.
She was nominated by her youths in UK for the 2015 REEBA Awards held in London, UK for the following categories: Inspirational leader, Mentor and Motivational role model.
She believes that youths are the leaders of today because tomorrow was yesterday.
