Arsenal host the defending champions in the last-16 first leg clash at
the Emirates on Tuesday, and Sanchez says he has no regrets about leaving the
Catalan giants. He told the Sunday Mirror “It wasn't easy to leave Barcelona, I fulfilled a dream when I moved
there to play in Spain and for the champions but very few players stay in the
same club all their life. To leave is normal. I wanted a new project, a new
experience and with so many attacking players at Barca it was a good choice to
go... it has been a positive move and I love it at Arsenal”
He also admitted that it would be a tough task facing his former club
and also stopping Lionel Messi in
particular. “We know it won't be easy.
Messi is the best footballer in the world, without a doubt. It's very difficult
to stop him but we will work on it. And remember, Barcelona is not only Leo…” he
said.
Sanchez did not win the Champions League title in his three years at
Barcelona they won the competition the season before he joined them from Udinese, and they won it again the
season after he left for England.
