New
Line is rounding out the cast of the movie Collateral Beauty in a
big way, as Oscar winner and current nominee Kate Winslet is in negotiations to join Will Smith in the unconventional drama.
Winslet is coming off a terrific turn in Danny Boyle‘s “Steve Jobs, which earned her a
Golden Globe win as well as an Oscar nomination. She has been nominated for
seven Academy Awards, winning for her leading role in The Reader. Rachel McAdams had previously been eyed
for the key supporting role that her fellow best supporting actress nominee
Winslet is nearing a deal to play. Allan
Loeb wrote the script, which follows a successful New York advertising
executive (Smith) who experiences a personal tragedy and retreats from life
entirely, prompting his colleagues to devise a drastic plan to help him
recover.
David Frankel is directing the
film, which will co-star Helen Mirren,
Edward Norton Keira Knightley, Michael Pena and Naomie Harris. Anthony Bregman, Kevin Frakes, Bard Dorros, Michael
Sugar also part of those producing the film, which will hit theaters during
the heart of awards season on Dec. 16.
