Having won back to back games after gaining
promotion to the NPFL, MFM FC went to Ibadan full of confidence and hope of
maintaining their winning streak while Shooting Stars were looking for their
first win.
Three minutes into the game Orelope fired from the edge of the box but MFM FC keeper Aiyeyemi put up a wonderful save to deny Shooting Stars the opening goal. A minute after Aiyeyemi ‘s save, his terrible mistake gifted Wasiu Jimoh the opportunity to put Shooting Stars ahead with their second shot on target and he made no mistake converting the chance.

The two teams
continued to push for the kill but it was Shooting Stars who got the
breakthrough as Wasiu Jimoh’s effort from outside the box beat MFM FC
keeper to make it his, and Shooting Stars’ second of the day.
Shooting Stars
remained the better of the two teams, exchanging passes and looking for more
goals. Their possessive pattern of play paid off when Wasiu Jimoh got his third
of the night and the first hat-trick of the NPFL season.
MFM FC threw caution
into the wind to reduce the deficit but Shooting Stars commanding first half
display was good enough to earn them all the three points and their first win
of the new season.
