Cinemax has announced plans for a
second season of Robert Kirkman’s exorcism
drama Outcast, all the while confirming that the new property
will make its inaugural bow on June 3. Making the announcement during the
ongoing South By Southwest, Outcast follows Kyle Barnes, a troubled soul that
has been burdening the brunt of demonic visions his entire life.
Playing the part of the haunted protagonist is Patrick Fugit with the likes of Philip Glenister and Gabriel
Bateman also on board to star. On the other side of the lens, director Adam
Wingard will helm the pilot episode with Chris Black of Cinemax attached to
executive produce.
An official statement from the network regarding its early vote of
confidence reads as so:
“Going into the first season of
Outcast, we knew that Robert Kirkman had once again created a world that would
scare us to our core. But what he, Chris Black and the rest of their team
have delivered has exceeded even those high expectations. We believe our
viewers will immediately be sucked into Outcast’s intense and creepy landscape,
which is why we have chosen to pick up a second season”.
Swapping walkers for all things supernatural, Outcast will
now creep out of the shadows and onto the small screen on June 3, before a second
season continues Robert Kirkman’s ghostly tale at some point next year.
