Prince had a profound impact on the music
world, including the insanity of boy bands in '90s. The guys from 98 Degrees
couldn't help but gush about their love for the late legend and how much he
influenced them.
Zuri Hall, Drew Lachey said, “Purple Rain's been my favorite song for
years. You go back and read our Teen
Magazine bios, and I think my favorite song was Purple Rain 16 years ago.
You look at the way that he didn't
apologize for anything. He was just his own artist. He made decisions based on
what he felt, didn't worry about anybody else. But he did it without giving
away too much. There was as mystery about him. You always wanted to know more
about him. As artists, there was just something that was magical about him, you
couldn't put your finger on, and everybody wanted to emulate it”.
However,
Drew admits he didn't always have a chance to appreciate that music, especially
at a young age when his parents restricted him and brother Nick Lachey
from listening to the risque tracks. He said “When
we grew up, our mom didn't want to let us listen to Prince but then once you
find it your mind is like, 'Oh my goodness! This is what I've been missing!” For
this reason, Drew says the world will definitely miss him, but he will never be gone. “It's
really unfortunate that he's no longer with us but his legacy and his music
will live on forever”
Prince died last Thursday in his Minnesota home at 57-years-old. An autopsy took place the next day, but according to the medical examiner, results won't be available for several weeks.
