Cristiano Ronaldo Would Send A USB Drive With His Goals To Rafa Benitez

 

According to details published by Spanish newspaper El Pais, Cristiano Ronaldo told Rafa Benitez that he would send him videos of his goals after the manager instructed one of his coaches to give the player material that he could study. Benitez was sacked as manager of Real Madrid in January this year after only being in charge for six months. He and Ronaldo are known to have had a tumultuous relationship and this is just another example of why it didn't work.

El Pais reports that close to when the pair first met last summer, after Benitez was appointed in June, the current Newcastle United manager sent one of his coaches to Ronaldo with a USB pen drive that included videos and images that he would be able to study to improve but Ronaldo, who has scored 43 goals in 43 games for Real this season, responded by declining the pen drive and sent a message in reply, which apparently read “Tell Benitez that I'll send him a USB drive with all my goals on it for him to study”

Benitez has a history of falling out with particularly prominent footballers within teams that he has managed. From Xabi Alonso at Liverpool to John Terry at Chelsea, he has struggled to build healthy relationships with big personalities. The same happened at Real. At first, Ronaldo and Benitez showed each other respect, but it didn't take long for cracks to appear. In a press conference, the then Real manager upset Ronaldo by not stroking the star's ego and saying he was the best player in the world. Benitez even refused to say that the winger was the best player at Real.
