Pinnick Ought To Resign - Former Lawmaker Braimah

Former lawmaker Abbass Braimah has called on Amaju Pinnick, president of the Nigeria Football Federation, to resign his post over his administrative failings following the country's back-to-back failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles missed qualifying for a second consecutive Africa Cup of Nations after suffering a 1-0 defeat in Alexandria against Egypt on Tuesday. Ramadan Sobhy netted the solitary goal that's put the Pharaohs on the verge of qualifying for Gabon 2017 and confirmed the 2013 champions will miss another tournament after the failure of 2015.

The former House committee member on sports insists Pinnick should quit the helms of football for his administrative failings, especially the needless change of guards which cost the country. He said “Almost immediately, Amaju should also be crashed out. The honorable thing to do is for him to do is to resign. Somebody has to take responsiblity becuase we cannot go through Nations Cup twice and we are not able to qualify becuase of fundamental question. The last edition, we were not there and next year we will not be there. It is very sad. Even in Africa, we will not be in one of the top 16 teams to play the Africa Cup of Nations. Having three coaches in less than one year. The hiring of Oliseh was the problem”.

Braimah also blasted the NFF president over the lack of due process in the appointment of Sunday Oliseh as Nigeria manager in spite of his lack of capacity to take charge of the team saying that “First and foremost, Oliseh did not have the wherewithal to coach the Super Eagles. And secondly, even the process of engaging him did not embrace due process. That job was suppose to be advertised, then people will put in from all over the world. This is Nigeria's national team job”.
