Ramiro Funes Mori Sorry For Tackle On Divock Origi

 

Ramiro Funes Mori has apologized for the tackle that put Divock Origi on a stretcher during the Merseyside derby. The Everton centre-half was sent off for a studs-up tackle on Origi that earned him a straight red card and left the Liverpool striker with ankle ligament damage which he had scanned on Thursday.

Everton were 2-0 down at the time and went on to lose 4-0 in a one-sided derby Roberto Martinez afterwards called horrible. Funes Mori gestured to the badge on his shirt as he left the pitch at Anfield but has now issued a statement apologizing for his behaviour.
It read: “I very much regret what happened yesterday. It was never my intention to harm a rival nor my colleagues [by] leaving the field.  And regarding Divock Origi, I fervently hope it's nothing serious and know that was never my intention to hurt [him]. I ask my apologies [sic] for what happened”

Martinez is now struggling to piece together a defence for Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United, with Funes Mori banned and John Stones, Phil Jagielka and Seamus Coleman all doubts.
