Dolph Lundgren as Cable in Deadpool 2?

 

It’s still early days on the follow-up to the R-rated surprise hit of the year, but thanks to the credits scene at the end of Deadpool, we already know one thing we can expect from Deadpool 2, and that’s the introduction of Cable.

Ever since Cable was confirmed to appear in the sequel, fans have been trying to figure out who the best man for the job would be. One of the more popular suggestions, with support from Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, has been Jon Hamm while Avatar star Stephen Lang also threw his own name into the ring. 

Now one more possible candidate for who should play Cable has emerged in the form of Dolph Lundgren.
Dolph Lundgren already took a role as a Marvel Comics character in the 1989 adaptation of The Punisher, and that prompted the folks over at Nerdist to ask him whether or not he would consider entering the Marvel cinematic universe. Lundgren’s answer wasn’t very well-informed, but he did have one particular idea.

He said “I haven’t watched a lot of these superhero movies; for some reason, I don’t know, I’m just busy making films. I did hear in… Deadpool, isn’t there a character named Cable that’s coming? Like, he’s a big guy? I guess I could kick some butt doing that, I suppose. We’ll see. When I saw the picture, he looks a little bit like Ivan Drago mixed with Gunner Jensen mixed with… I don’t know.”
