Jamie Vardy Thrilled By England's 2-1 Win Over Wales

Jamie Vardy hailed England's Euro 2016 win over Wales as an unbelievable feeling and says they have now set their sights on topping Group B. The Leicester striker stepped off the bench at half-time to cancel out Gareth Bale's first-half free-kick in the 56th minute before fellow substitute Daniel Sturridge scored an injury-time winner in Lens.

The result sees England move to the top of Group B and they will secure qualification to the last 16 of Euro 2016 if they take a point against Slovakia on Monday but a win will guarantee top spot and Vardy insists that is their aim after he celebrated his first goal at a major international tournament for England.

He said “It felt unbelievable, we just carried on doing what we were doing in the first half. The chances kept coming and I was lucky enough to put away the first opportunity that I got. Hodgson told us to carry on doing exactly what we were doing in the first half. We thought we were unlucky to come in losing and so we carried on and created a lot more chances. Me and Sturridge came off the bench and managed to get the goals. We just want to make sure we win the next game. That's all we are going to concentrate on now on the training field. We'll be looking forward to that game.”
