English
Premier League club, Watford FC, have confirmed the signing of Nigerian
striker, Isaac Success, for a club record transfer fee thought to be around
£12.5m.
Watford through their official website on Friday stated that
Success had agreed a five-year contract at Vicarage Road thus becoming the
Hornets’ third new signing ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League campaign,
following Jerome Sinclair and Christian Kabasele.
The 20-year old Nigerian striker, who can play in a central or
wide attacking role, is making a switch to the Premier League from Spanish
outfit Granada.
Success, who has played for the Nigeria U-17 team, the Golden
Eaglets and Nigeria U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, has attracted interest from
some of Europe’s biggest clubs after scoring six goals in 30 La Liga
appearances last season.
His impressive performances during the 2015/16 campaign also
earned Success the Granada’s Player of the Year award.
Success will now be joining another Nigerian, Odion Ighalo, as
both strikers will hope to help Watford to a better campaign in the English
Premier.
On Friday, there were reports that Watford rejected a
sensational a £37.5m (about N15bn) offer from Chinese club, Shanghai SIPG, who
are keen on luring Ighalo away from England.
For many, rejecting such mouth-watering offer could just mean
Watford are not willing to let go of Ighalo who by all standards enjoyed a
phenomenal Premier League debut last term, scoring 15 goals for the club.
