Nominations begin for the Nigerian Writers' Awards 2017

The Prestigious Nigerian Writers Awards (NWA) 2017 nomination is on. NWA is a platform organized to reward excellence, celebrate Nigerian Writers of different genres, encourage and create a synergy between budding and established writers in Nigeria.  It is the first of its kind awards to reward writers of different genres and writers’ supportive brands.

The inaugural edition of the Nigerian Writers Awards (NWA) ceremony was held on Saturday 6^th of February, 2016 at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island Lagos with professionals, authors, journalists, young and established Nigerian writers across the country and in the diaspora.

The 2017 edition considers nomination for activities in the following period under review: January 2015- June 2016, also writers who have proven their worth and commitment in writing, entries will be received from individuals, private sectors, civil society or government and will  be rewarded based on the categories.

NOMINATION CATEGORIES

Business writer of the year, Political writer, Entertainment writer, Feature writer, Blog writer, Health writer, Sports writer, Script writer, Song writer (RnB, Pop, Indigenous), Poetry writer, Campus writer, Indigenous writer (Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Pidgin), Fiction writer, Non-fiction writer, Faith-based writer, Inspiration writer, Romance writer, Comic writer, Child/teenage writer, Diaspora Writer, Young writer of the year, Writer of the year, Writers’ supportive brand of the year.

Selection of winners: There will be thorough screening on nominees, the Judges vote and the Readers vote will be what determines the winning list.

 The Award Jury is composed of individuals of high moral stature with demonstrated commitment to the ideals of the Nation and who have distinguished themselves in their respective writing fields and covers virtually all category of writing. The evaluation is based on five criteria; Originality, Impact and Creativity.

 Award Ceremony: The announcement of the winners will be at the grand event which will hold in January 2017 in Nigeria where the award of the category winners will be announced.

Or send nominee’s details and the nominee’s works (web links/soft copies/reviews), ensure you include which category(ies) you are nominating, and send to nominate@nigerianwritersawards.com. Nomination period will run through to 9^th of September 2016. There will be pre-selection after the deadline of nominations.
