Star Wars: Samuel L. Jackson Thinks Mace Windu Isn't Dead

One of the better characters created in the Star Wars prequels was Mace Windu, the Jedi master played by Samuel L. Jackson but unfortunately, Mace Windu died at the hands of the Dark Side. In a battle with Darth Sidious after Anakin Skywalker had turned to the dark side, not only did Skywalker cut off Windu’s arm, but Sidious struck him with Force lightning and then Force pushed him out the window. So we all know that Mace Windu died in Revenge of the Sith. But what Samuel L. Jackson presupposes is, maybe he didn’t? And it sounds like George Lucas was just fine with that. However, at this point, it probably doesn’t matter. Get the details on the possibilities of Mace Windu alive after the jump.

Jackson first addressed the fate of Mace Windu during a Q&A session on Twitter where he explained that it was George Lucas’ idea to kill off Mace Windu but at the end of the answer, Jackson gave his thoughts on the fate of his character. Jackson revealed that he just imagined that Mace Windu survived that encounter. Jackson spoke with Entertainment Weekly further about the matter and said, “Jedi can fall from amazing distances. And there’s a long history of one-handed Jedi. So why not?”

However, just because this little details wasn’t part of canon before Star Wars was passed on to Disney, doesn’t mean the Lucasfilm story group can’t make it happen. At the same time, I don’t think Lucasfilm and Disney are too keen to do much that brings anything from the prequels into play in this new trilogy or any future movies. But perhaps there’s the chance that a comic book or other medium could be used to bring Mace Windu back from the dead. But don’t hold your breath.
