Of course, many people will be keeping an eye on how it stacks up again 2016’s other comics book movies. Deadpool did $132.4 million while Batman V Superman did $166 million. Captain America pulled in $179 million and Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse somewhat fumbled with an upsetting $65.7 million.
Where Suicide Squad will ultimately land is anyone’s guess, but $125-$130 million seems like a very fair estimate, and given that the film is trending extremely high on social media, we wouldn’t be too surprised to see it pull in even more. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the DC Comics adaptation ends up performing, and thankfully, we don’t have too much longer to wait until we find out.
Suicide Squad hits theatres on August 5th and stars Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Ben Affleck, Cara Delevingne and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, among others.
