David Fincher Could Helm The World War Z Sequel

Paramount is still pushing ahead with a sequel though, and originally, they drafted in J.A. Bayona to direct. However, with the filmmaker now departing in order to helm Jurassic World 2, the studio’s follow-up to the 2013 zombie movie is currently without a director.

From what we understand, a couple of replacements are being eyed by Paramount, but if star Brad Pitt has his way, it will be David Fincher who steps up to the plate and comes in to direct. Though no deal has been made just yet, talks have already taken place and negotiations are now underway

Reuniting Fincher and Pitt, after their work together on Seven and Fight Club, seems like a no brainer. And while this doesn’t seem like the type of movie that the director would usually choose to make, it’s apparently Pitt’s involvement that’s drawing him to the project, as he’s always been open to listening when the actor reaches out.

The sequel to World War Z has a release date of June 9th, 2017, but with the search for a director still underway, it would be safe to expect that the film will be delayed somewhat.
