For Now Saido Berahino Will Not Be Sold

Tony Pulis says West Brom striker Saido Berahino will not be sold until the club have recruited a replacement striker. The former England U21 international played alongside goalscorer Salomon Rondon in West Brom's 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday and Pulis says the pair make an effective partnership.

He said “The two of them will be a good partnership this year, if we can keep him, we can't sell Saido unless we get someone in. So if we get someone in, fine. But if we can't then we'd be committing suicide if we let Saido go.”

Reflecting on the win, Pulis was delighted to come away from Selhurst Park with all three points and praised his side's set-piece skills after Rondon's header from a free-kick. He said “It's a great start [to the season]," he said. "If you look at the game, all of their chances really came from our mistakes. Defensively we were very, very good and generally we were pretty comfortable. There were shots from long range and nothing else, so it's a very solid start. We always look dangerous off set plays and we had good opportunities ourselves. We work very, very hard at our set plays, which I think is important. They were good. The lads worked so hard.”
