HBO Orders Room 104 For 2017

HBO may have recently cancelled Togetherness, but the network has no intention of splitting from that show’s creators, Jay and Mark Duplass. The prolific brothers will soon deliver another HBO comedy show in the form of Room 104 – an anthology series with a stunningly simple premise.

The show will be set in room 104 of an average hotel in America, and each episode will focus on the story of one particular set of guests in that room. This is a classic idea from the Duplass Brothers, who have built individual and joint careers at the intersection of the mundane and the bizarre. They are remarkably adept at observing, interpreting and presenting the most minute details of human behaviours, using those sparks to generate entire scenarios that are engrossing, hilarious and unsettling in equal measure.

Room 104 will be a must-see show when it finally hits the airwaves in 2017, because when the Duplass Brothers combine their creative voices, the result is heartwarming and thought-provoking comedy – and that’s something of which modern television needs much, much more.
