Former
Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede, on Monday
emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Ondo State
governorship election.
Mr.
Jegede, a Senior Advocates of Nigeria, scored 760 votes to beat Saka Lawal, his
only rival, who scored only 22 votes.
Mr.
Jegede, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, had on July 23 resigned his appointment
in preparation to contest the governorship election come November this year.
His
aspiration is presently creating disquiet within the party, as he is seen as
Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s anointed candidate.
Some
aspirants under the PDP had protested the seeming imposition, saying it might
result in the party failing to win the governorship election.
Mr.
Jegede, is from Akure in the Ondo Central senatorial district, just like Mr.
Mimiko.
