Caroline Woniacki Reach US Open Quarter-Final

Caroline Wozniacki continued her return to form with a brilliant 6-3 6-4 victory over eighth seed Madison Keys at the US Open. The Dane, ranked at number 74 in the world after form and fitness problems over the last couple of years has always enjoyed New York and once again the final major of the year has given her cause for optimism.

Wozniacki has reached the final twice before at Flushing Meadows, in 2009 where she was beaten by Kim Clijsters and in 2014 where she was beaten by Serena Williams, but an impressive victory over eighth seed Madison Keys will give her high hopes of a possible repeat.

Keys survived a huge scare against Naomi Osaka in round three, battling back from the brink of defeat, but she was never in contention against her experienced opponent who clinched a straight sets victory in 77 minutes on Arthur Ashe Court. Keys has reached the fourth round in all four Grand Slam events this year but her US Open bid ends at the last 16 stage again while Wozniacki goes on to a battle of the unseeded quarter-finalists when she takes on Anastasija Sevastova who saw off Johanna Konta in the first match of the day.
