I Deserved To Be Sent Off -Mark Hughes

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes admits the officials were right to send him off for leaving his technical area as his Stoke team lost 4-0 to Tottenham.  The Stoke manager was dismissed for verbally abusing the fourth official and the linesman on 35 minutes just before Son Heung-Min grabbed the first of his two goals.

He said “It was my fault - I came out of my area, I wasn't happy as I thought they missed two decisions. Jon Walters in my view got fouled and the linesman didn't raise his flag before Marko had to take evasive action and he gets booked for it. I was disappointed with that but I was also disappointed with my reaction. It's not been a great day for us, but we can pick ourselves up.”

The balance of the game could have changed if referee Anthony Taylor had deemed Victor Wanyama's challenge on Giannelli Imbula worthy of a second yellow card with the game at 1-0. Wanyama was substituted just minutes later and it was a decision that Hughes felt the referee got wrong.
