Team Nigeria
continued their impressive performances at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games as
they claimed their eighth gold medal on Wednesday. As usual, the gold was
won in powerlifting, Nigeria's gold mine in Rio and at previous games.

Josephine Orji not only won the gold in women's
+86kg category, she set a new Paralympics and world record in the process. Orji
lifted 160kg to finish well ahead of the competition and bring more glory to
Nigeria. Orji's closest competitor was Poland's Marzena Zieba, who lifted 134kg to win the siver medal. Netherlands'
Melaica Tuinfort claimed the bronze
medal with a 130kg lift.
Team Nigeria
have now won 11 medals in total: eight gold, two silver and one bronze.
